Getting vaccinated

 

There are several ways to get the COVID-19 vaccination:

  1. Online. Visit the Government of Ontario's COVID-19 vaccination website for all of your vaccine information needs including safety, eligibility and online booking

  2. North Simcoe Family Health Team. The NSFHT is providing COVID-19 vaccines. Please call the NSFHT to book a vaccination.

  3. Community pharmacy vaccine roll out. Search for your closest pharmacy at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations

You have symptoms and are concerned you may have COVID-19. Now what?

I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Should I get the COVID-19 vaccine?

 

Answer: It is YOUR choice. For many people, getting a COVID-19 vaccine is the safest choice. Clinical trials for these vaccines did not include people who were pregnant or breastfeeding. Speak with your Midwife/Family Physician/Obstetrician.

Can I get the COVID-19 vaccine if I have cancer?

 

Answer: Almost all cancer patients can receive any of the COVID-19 vaccines. Your vaccine may need to be scheduled around your chemotherapy or vice versa.

Should I get the vaccine if I've had a COVID-19 infection? How long after do I have to wait?

 

Answer: For now, those who have previously had COVID should get a full course of the vaccine. It is still uncertain how long antibodies last. People who are acutely ill should not get the vaccine. The current recommendation is to wait six months after infection for your next vaccination.

What is the latest on vaccines for kids?

 

Answer: We recommend that all children being offered the vaccine should receive the vaccine as per local public health guidelines

Does an individual require a valid health card to receive the vaccine?

 

Answer: Not having OHIP coverage or a health card should not be a barrier to receiving the vaccine.
